Historically, much of the Agricultural Literacy programming has targeted early elementary youth with a focus on where food is grown, how food is grown, and what major food groups are included in a particular ready-to-eat food product (i.e., pizzas or hamburgers). To date, there is very little evidence that short instructional units change human behaviour in adulthood. Hence, a more intentional and longer- term curriculum is needed to improve our societal condition where unhealthy lifestyles, particularly low- quality diets, improper management of post-pandemic stress, and poor exercise regimes are affecting human longevity.

Thus, there is a need to include a consumer knowledge component in the agriculture literacy movement to emphasize the importance of diet, stress management, and exercise throughout early adulthood. This panel will consist of international experts to discuss the knowledge objects that a comprehensive Agricultural and Consumer Literacy program should include

We welcome scholars to submit their papers that relate to agriculture to the MakeLearn & TIIM 2023 in the ‘Agriculture and Consumer Literacy’ track.
